FORWARD, The Vagina Monologues and V-Day

FORWARD has recently become a beneficiary of the play The Vagina Monologues, written by the award winning play write Eve Ensler. The play explores women's experiences of their vaginas and the mystery, the joy, the depth and sorrow that is associated with these experiences. "Your vagina is the story of your life ... just by telling the story of her vagina a woman is suddenly more vibrant, more powerful, more real." says Eve Ensler.

FORWARD is also working closely with the associated V-Day UK 2002 campaign which is a global movement to stop violence against women. V-Day promotes creative events to raise awareness and funds to revitalize the spirit of women's organisations. V-day events will take place in 2002 between14 February and 8 March and will comprise theatrical performances at universities and colleges around the country. Funds which are generated from the individuals, companies, foundations, product and book sales and benefit and commercial performances of The Vagina Monologues will be contributed to FORWARD and eight other charities. The organisations are active in the campaign to end violence against women through campaigning on issues such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), forced and early marriage, rape, domestic violence and sexual slavery.
