Come and acquire skills in peer education and leadership

FORWARD is seeking African women aged 25+, for the community outreach project, to raise awareness on women’s health and rights.

We are looking for women who would be able to relate to the women in the target communities that is, FGM practising communities, provide positive role models and be accessible in local communities.

In turn, you will be trained in;

  • communication skills,
  • assertiveness skills,
  • community mobilisation and leadership skills,
  • women’s health and FGM,
  • FGM and child protection.
  • You will also receive a certificate.
  • What skills and training do I need?

    You should have good communication and team building skills. We will provide you with the training you will need to become a peer educator.

    How much time do I need to give?

    • Attend the first 2 day training 2-3 June 2009, 10.00am-2.30pm.

    • Commit to attend subsequent trainings.

    • After the trainings you may be required to lead a session once a month where you are expected to deliver factual information to the community and your peers.

    • Meet quarterly with other community champions and FORWARD staff.

    • Hours are flexible and you can easily fit your peer educator’s role with your job or family commitments.

    The training is free; Refreshments and food will be provided.
