FGM Training Cultural competence & guidance procedures for professionals

The Foundation for Women’s Health Research and Development (FORWARD) announces a half-day training on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM): Cultural competence and guidance procedures for professionals.

Training course aims

  • Increase awareness of the social cultural context of FGM.
  • Increase understanding of the UK law and policy issues.
  • Strengthen cultural competency and develop practical skills for supporting women and girls living with FGM and those at risk.
  • Provide information on services and resources available in the UK to respond to needs of women and girls affected by FGM

Participants will receive copies of FORWARD’s new publication produced by young people: Female Genital Mutilation: Information and Support Services Guide for Young People.

Who should attend this course?

This course will be invaluable to front line professionals from health, education, children services as well as the police and voluntary agencies.
