FORWARD in The Gambia - UpdateJuly 12th 1998 This major women's health project in the Gambia, co-funded by the Department for International Development, is in its second year. FORWARD has visited the two pilot areas for monitoring and evaluation purposes. The communities involved have been very co-operative, and it was observed that the project is having considerable impact on local people. Some circumcisors have joined the campaign against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in return for skills development for income generating activities. |
