IT'S FOR US TO DECIDE15 minutes Available for loan only Was produced by the Sudanese Community as a training and information tool. It tells the story of a recently married couple and the problems they experience when trying to consummate their marriage. BLACK BAG: CUTTING THE ROSE25 minutes Available for loan only was first shown on Channel 4 in 1997 as part of the Black Bag series. Despite FGM being illegal in the UK since 1985, this eye-opening and informative documentary uncovers evidence of two men in the Manchester area willing to perform female circumcision for money, one being a medical doctor and the other an actual 'circumcisor'. Dealing with the reality of FGM taking place in the UK, this documentary covers the issues very well. ANOTHER FORM OF ABUSE25 minutes Available for loan only Gives an overall framework for child protection interventions for professionals in health, social work and education as well as directions on community education. It tells the story of a husband and wife who clash over the issue of whether to have their daughter undergo FGM. The drama examines the various arguments and issues surrounding FGM. HEART OF THE MATTER: A DANGEROUS SILENCE36 minutes Available for loan only Explores various themes regarding FGM; the clashes of culture, the rights of the child, the law in this country versus certain cultures, and so on. It also features interviews with women who have been affected by FGM. RITE OF PASSAGE17 minutes Available for loan only was made in Kenya where up to 50% of the female population are affected by FGM. The documentary focuses on an alternative to FGM called "circumcision with words". ACTS OF LOVE30 minutes Available for loan only This documentary deals with FGM in Denmark and France, showing how professionals and authorities are handling FGM amongst African immigrants. The documentary includes a discussion with Linda Weil-Cruel, who was instrumental in the jailing of a circumciser in early 1999, in France. THE BROKEN SILENCE
