FORWARD recognises the need to bring young men and women aged 16-24 to the forefront of our campaign to advance and protect the health and human rights of African girls and women in the UK as well as Internationally.

In order to achieve this goal within a generation, it is essential we involve YOUNG PEOPLE in the campaign, equip them with skills and confidence to SPEAK OUT! get their voices heard and empower them to be the instigators of change within their communities.

We focus on four impact areas:

  • Generate EVIDENCE to influence change on a policy and community level.
  • Develop leadership skills and capacity of young people to ADVOCATE for change.
  • Improve quality and access to support SERVICES for young people affected or at risk of FGM or any form of GBV.
  • Engage SCHOOLS in the campaign and ensure effective preventative measures.
  • FREE Peer Education training - NOW OPEN!

    Gender based violence awareness Interactive workshops that offer a safe space to explore issues of gender, identity, sexual health rights, FGM and child marriage.

    Leadership & facilitation skills Gain skills and confidence for leadership in communication, assertiveness, public speaking and facilitation.

    Advocacy & campaigning Develop your creative spark, planning youth-led campaigns and events to influence change in your community.

    This opportunity is for males and females aged 16-24. We are looking in particular to recruit from FGM practising communities, West Africa and the Horn of Africa.
