Naana, Executive Director Wins National Honour in Top 50 Professional and Career Women Awards UK

FORWARD (Foundation for Women’s Health Research and Development) is proud to announce that our Executive Director, Naana Otoo-Oyortey MBE, has been named a UK Award Winner in the 2025 Top 50 Professional and Career Women Awards, hosted by Women in Management (WIM).

Naana received the prestigious title of EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) Advocate of the Year, recognising her outstanding leadership in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and her tireless advocacy for the rights and wellbeing of African women and girls.

This recognition comes during FORWARD’s 40th anniversary year, marking four decades of transformative work to end female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and violence against women and girls (VAWG), while empowering young women through leadership and movement-building initiatives.

A feminist leader with over 30 years of global experience, Naana has dedicated her life to advancing the rights of women and girls. Naana has led FORWARD for 18 years,  expanding its reach across the UK and Africa, and shaping policy, partnerships, and community-led solutions that centre dignity, health, and empowerment.

This recognition is not only a testament to Naana’s leadership, but also to the collective power of our 40-year journey at FORWARD, empowering women and girls to thrive, lead, and create lasting change.
