Women & girls in Africa

Women & girls in Africa

Our work is focussed on ending all forms of violence against African women and girls.  We continue to support those at risk, or living with the effects of VAWG through our safeguarding and advocacy programmes designed to reach the heart of the community.

Through strong partnerships with community-based organisations in Africa, we raise awareness of the risks of FGM, child marriage and related maternal health issues, such as obstetric fistula. We also run young women’s leadership projects and training.  We always listen to the voices in the community – allowing us to develop initiatives that address multiple needs. These give African women and girls access opportunities to exercise their rights and achieve independence.

Equally, we support African women and girls at a national level by advocating for change to policies and laws which limit their ability to enjoy equal rights and live fulfilling lives – without fear.

My life would be so different if I hadn’t been involved with the FORWARD/CDF project. I now feel so much better about myself and I’m aware of my rights.
