This year, we celebrate a decade of TuWezeshe Akina Dada — a powerful movement that has supported, connected and inspired African, Black and Minoritised young women to amplify their voices, build a sisterhood and lead change within their communities and beyond.
Since its launch, TuWezeshe Akina Dada has brought together over 400 young women from across Africa and the diaspora, creating spaces to learn, grow, challenge inequalities and build lasting networks of solidarity. Through leadership development, mentorship, advocacy and collective action, the programme has supported a new generation of women to become changemakers in their communities.
Over the past 10 years, we have witnessed the courage, creativity and determination of TuWezeshe Akina Dada participants as they have gone on to lead initiatives, influence conversations and advocate for the rights of women and girls.
This anniversary is not only a celebration of how far we have come — it is a celebration of the incredible women who have made the journey possible and the partners that have been part of this amazing programme. They include Akina Mama wa Afrika, Akili Dada, ActionAid Ghana, Sub Saharan African Partnership, Children’s Dignity Forum, Think Young Women and Tuwezeshe Global.
As we look ahead to the next decade, we remain committed to nurturing young women’s leadership, strengthening our collective power and creating a future where every young African woman has the opportunity to lead, thrive and shape the world around her.
