We believe that collective action to end violence against girls and women must involve a collaborative approach between professionals in health, social services, education, law enforcement, nonprofit organisations and government bodies.

Our accredited and tailored training are designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills and confidence to safeguard at-risk women and girls from Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and other forms of violence against women and girls. Using a participatory approach, the training raises awareness of the environment these harmful practices occur, and the physical, emotional and psychosocial impact on women and girls and the laws set in place to protect them.

What will you learn?

Gain an understanding of harmful practices: such FGM, Breast ironing , FBA within the wider context of Violence Against Women & Girls in a multicultural context. You will also learn to identify risk factors and understand legislative and policy frameworks and key referral pathways to better equip professionals to help those in need.

Our certified training courses

Responding to FGM Training

Open College Network (OCN) at Level 3 for Professional Training (PT). At the end of this one-day course, you will be equipped with knowledge, information on the law and reporting, and practical and emotional skills to confidently develop actionable plans for responses to FGM and other forms of violence.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

  • Responding to FGM in schools: School staff training for teachers and education professionals
  • Train the Trainers: Building your knowledge and developing skills to teach about FGM and other harmful practices in secondary schools.

Our tailored training courses

We also provide training tailored to your organisation’s specific needs. These are commissioned and delivered upon request, where you chose the training topic.

Length of training

Our sessions are offered as half-days (3 hours) of full days (5 hours), depending on the topics covered.
