The Blood of Women Film Screening

Registration is closed for this event
To mark International day of the Girl Child, FORWARD in partnership with The Girl Generation invites you to the film screening of The Blood of Women. This is a documentary by Christian Lajoumard (previous work includes ‘Children of Noma’ and La nuit de la vérité (The Night of Truth).

In Northwest Kenya the Great Pokot is a region where Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is widely practised. The Blood of Women presents the consequences of FGM through the testimonies of Pokot women, doctors and social workers. It addresses related issues such as child marriage and obstetric fistula and also highlights some positive voices of change within the community.

The film aims to draw attention to the entrenched social norms that perpetuates these abuses and the challenges in tackling them.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with Adwoa Kwateng-Kluvitse & Angela Muruli from FORWARD, Christianne Williamson from The Girl Generation, Israa Siddig who is a Doctor at University College London and Leyla Hussein, Activist, Founder Of Dahlia Project and Co-Founder Daughters Of Eve.

There is a suggested donation of £5. Please register your attendance using the 'Register Now' button as spaces are limited. Registration closes on Tuesday 10th at 3pm.
