Our young women’s leadership programme, ‘TuWezeshe Akina Dada’ – Swahili for ‘empowering our sisters’ – is a feminist leadership programme that seeks to inspire a generation of young African women to engage in both civil and political spaces and to take collective action against VAWG.
TuWezeshe Akina Dada is a one-year fellowship programme, during which the young women Fellows build up core leadership skills, are mentored by established female leaders and ultimately receive funding to initiate their own Social Action Projects. TuWezeshe Fellows learn how to shape the policy agenda on VAWG, to build solidarity with other young women activists and to voice their concerns and demands through a range of national and international platforms.
