FORWARD is One of the Finalists in the CIPR PRide Awards 2010

FORWARD was a finalist together with Bristol City Council, NHS Bristol, Avon & Somerset Constabulary/Bristol Safeguarding Children Board for the partnership programme on “Stop Female Genital Mutilation ” in the Community Relations category of the West of England Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRide Awards 2010.

This award was in recognition of the pioneering multi-agency partnership community development project funded by the Primary Care Trust and led by FORWARD to engage FGM practicing communities to help end FGM. The successes so far include women in Bristol for the first time in the history of the UK marching along the streets of Bristol to raise awareness to help end FGM.

Birmingham City Council is now working with FORWARD to replicate this community approach model in Birmingnam, having seen the positive outcomes of the project.
