FORWARD’S 25th anniversary celebrations

FORWARD held a fundraising music concert to celebrate our 25th Anniversary at Rich Mix, London on 27th Nov. It was a night of unique performances from London’s leading female African artists to raise awareness on our issues in particular female genital mutilation, (FGM) child marriage and rights of girls.

The line-up included Amira Kheir, Sona Jobarteh, Maryam Mursal, Ruby and the Vines and performance artist Christina Oshunniyi who brought the audience to tears with her poignant dramatization of FGM.

This event included the END FGM European Campaign Sign a Rose Petal, where many of the audience signed up to the campaign that aims to express support for an EU wide strategy to bring FGM to an end. The campaign has to date got over 25,000 signatures.

There was indeed a lot of laughter, networking, dancing and a chance to highlight the beauty of African music, African women and African culture.
