India: Reservations for Women in Army

Subrahmanya, June 9: Renuka Chowdhary, central minister for child and women welfare said that the Home Minister has been asked to increase reservations for women in the army from 10% to 30%.

She was speaking to the reporters after offering her prayers at Kukke Sri Subrahmanya temple. She further said that a Rs 5 crore project to develop and educate Muslim minority women has been launched.

She also spoke about children rights and steps taken to protect children from child labour. Further she spoke about strict laws to ban child marriage and said that parents and people who participate in child marriage will be held responsible for child marriage.

She had visited the temple with her daughter Poojitha and performed Mahapooja and Sesha seva pooja.
