International News – Handover of Circumcision Tools by Guinean Women

Guinea: Hundreds of women who have been circumcising young girls have handed over their ceremonial knives at a weekend ceremony in Korosa in the east of the former French colony Guinea. Haja Wudu Barrie, on behalf of campaigners against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), informed the state radio station, it was the welcomed result of 14 years of campaigning! Even some of the women, financed by the campaigning organisations there, have changed their secret female circumcising group into one that campaigns for its abolition.
