New FORWARD Initiative in Ghana

FORWARD is currently working with the Association of Church Development Projects (ACDEP) and other Government partners in Northern Ghana to increase public awareness and action to stop Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). A research dissemination workshop for chiefs, opinion leaders, policy makers, NGO and government staff and other stakeholders was held in October 2000, which produced a resolution for more effective measures. Discussions have started on a wider initiative to support women’s reproductive health within the three regions of Ghana.
