Research Update – FGM Case Study in Birmingham

The report of the case study of men and women from Somali, Eritraen, Yemenis and Sudanese communities resident in Birmingham, highlights some of the issues surrounding Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the UK, including attitudes and awareness of the communities and their perceived access to health care facilities. The study took place in 1999, with the help of research assistants recruited from local ethnic minority communities.
