Woman Jailed in Paris for Circumcising Girls

Paris: In February this year, 53 year-old Hawa Greou from Mali was sentenced to eight years in prison for circumcising up to 50 young girls. Also tried as accomplices in the ritual circumcisions were twenty-six parents, who were given sentences from three years suspended to two years in prison. The case followed after Mariatou Koita, now 24, reported to the police the crimes committed by Greou in 1994.
